Steps to Building Your New Home
We know that as a buyer you are excited to see how your new home comes together from start to finish. There are many different stages that happen before your new home is ready for you to move in. From the pouring of the foundation, to framing, to drywall, your new home looks different at every stage. Once the drywall goes up it is easy for buyers to begin to imagine how they might live in the space. The fun part is imagining how the furniture will go where, how you will entertain, and how you will personalize the space to call it your own.
Step #1 -Framing and Foundation
The foundation is the first step in building your new home and probably one of the most important steps as it must be done correctly to avoid future problems. After the foundation has set, the framing of your home begins, and you will begin to get excited to see your home start to take shape.
Step #2 -Inspection and Framework
After the framing is completed, the home will be inspected to check the plumbing, electrical and framework. Once we receive the ‘green light’, you will be allowed to do the first official walkthrough of your new home to see the layout, staircase and placement of all electrical outlets. Our Customer Care team will be in touch with you to schedule an appointment to walk through your new home at a time that is safe and convenient for everyone.
Step#3-Enclosing your Home
At this stage the home will be enclosed. The roofing system, windows, and doors will be installed. Now, that each room is defined you will begin to imagine the space.
Step #4-Insulating your Home
Getting it right with the right amount of insulation will ensure the home stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Although, this is not one of the most exciting stages it is important because this allows you to have a comfortable and efficient indoor environment.
Step #5-Installing Drywall
Once your walls and ceilings are covered with drywall you can begin to visualize the rooms and the flow of the house.
Step #6—Making Your House a Home
The time has come to select the flooring, cabinets, countertops, appliances, lighting fixtures, millwork, interior doors and much more. A visit to the décor center will allow you to choose from a wide array of selections to upgrade your new home and make it your own.
Step #7-Ready for Your New Home
The final walk through usually happens 1 week prior to closing. At the pre-delivery inspection (PDI), this is your opportunity to make sure everything has been completed and done correctly. The Customer Care team will walk you through the home, show you how to operate any appliances and answer any of your questions. They will explain your Tarion warranty and document any issues. Now, you can commence with the closing of your new home. Happy packing and welcome to your new home built by Pinewood Niagara Homebuilders.
